How to copy any DVD to DVD±R(W)
Ripping Single-Layered DVDs

Few DVDs seem to be single-layered. Many of them are packed full of deleted scenes, director commentary, previews, the-making-of scenes, different languages, trailers, and so forth. But if you want to copy a disc that's only one layer, you're in luck. The process to copy a single layer DVD to a DVD-R is much quicker than if you have to re-encode it. It's nothing more than saving to disc and burning back onto a disc. You'll start off by seeing the disc information like this:

You will want to rip in ISO mode, which is what you're in. (If for some reason you're not in ISO mode, from the "Mode" menu, select "ISO" -> "Read".) Find a place to save the files. Three files will be created: an MDS file, an I00, and an I01. The I## files have a limit of 4 Gb, but since single layer discs are no more than 4.3 Gb, you're left with only two files. Click the DVD -> HD button to begin saving the files. For an idea of how long this will take, the example movie took me roughly ten minutes ripping at around 7-8x.

Once the files are ripped, you're ready to burn. Change your "Mode" to "ISO" -> "Write" and put a blank disc in your drive. You'll see this:

Once you select the MDS file, you'll be presented with a different window:

Click the HD -> DVD button to begin burning. This process takes me roughly 15 minutes at 4x, so you can expect half an hour at 2x, an hour at 1x, and so on. The burn process window will look like this:

With a little patience, you'll have your disc burned and ready to go:
